Diretto da Georg Ransmayr per la ORF (Österreichischer Rundfunk) esce in Austria l’atteso docu-film “Jack of all Trades – The Life of Camillo Castiglioni – Der Millionensassa – Das Leben des Camillo Castiglioni”
Sarà presentato a Vienna il 15 ottobre e andrà in onda il 17.
Alla realizzazione del docu-film la Fondazione ha collaborato mettendo a disposizione i documenti conservati nel Fondo Attilio Tamaro del suo Archivio. Documenti che sono stati alla base della biografia dell’industriale e finanziere triestino pubblicata dal vicepresidente Gianni Scipione Rossi: Lo “squalo” e le leggi razziali. Vita spericolata di Camillo Castiglioni, Rubbettino 2017.

Documenti, inoltre, che hanno consentito, in collaborazione con la Fondazione, l’allestimento a Trieste, nel luglio del 2019, della mostra Camillo Castiglioni e il mito della BMW.
Così il docu-film viene presentato dalla ORF nel suo sito web:
<There were very few million dollar businesses in Austria after the First World War in which «inflation king» Camillo Castiglioni did not have a hand. The super rich self made man upstaged everyone with his shady deals. For some, Castiglioni is a visionary financial wizard, for others a grasping and sinister character. The Trieste born social climber polarises opinion, with Karl Kraus demonising him as a loan shark. However, Castiglioni surprised both his friends and his enemies.
He didn’t just have a passion for women and cars but he loved fighter aircraft and fine art. Castiglioni had a feel both for grandeur and the grand gesture. Max Reinhardt would probably not have been able to found the Salzburg Festival without his contributions. And hardly anyone remembers these days that it was Castiglioni who founded BMW and turned it into a car manufacturer>.
Il docu-film è andato in onda il 17 ottobre 2019, alle 22.30, sulla rete ORF 2, il secondo canale della televisione austriaca.
